It is not the purpose of this job description to be a rigid set of rules, but rather a set of guidelines, which can grow and change when necessary for a more effective accomplishment of the ministry of the church.Vision for Plymouth's Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry:A ministry that creates safe relationships, a fun atmosphere, and a deeper connection with Jesus Christ.A ministry that engages all people:In a deeper relationship with Jesus ChristIn the ministry of the churchIn meaningful relationships with their peersIn serving the community and the life of the greater churchA ministry that provides one on one interaction with caring individuals; small group; and large group experiences.A ministry with involved, well-equipped volunteers who are growing in Christ through their service.General Duties and Responsibilities:Primary coordinator of a unified program for all ages and effectively communicate that program to the congregation.Provide primary leadership in developing appropriate and effective programs for children, youth, and their families, evaluating and recommending curriculum, and obtaining materials.Oversee and assist in recruiting a talented team of volunteers for children's, youth and adult ministries.Provide guidance and assistance to programs including: Bible School, VBS, confirmation class, youth group, adult Bible study, and intergenerational programs.Facilitate regular youth meetings for Middle and High school students.Plan and promote camps, retreats, trips, concerts, parties, mission trips and outreach events, etc.Integrate the children's and youth ministry with the larger church body.Work with the senior pastor to fulfill the overall vision of Plymouth Church.Qualifications/Characteristics:Strong faith and active relationship with ChristAbility to have fun, be serious, and relate faith to everyday lifeBe able to relate and build a trusting relationship with kids, youth and their parents, along with people of all agesSelf-motivated but coachable i.e. life-long learnerPersonable, outgoing, and able to recruit people into the ministries of which they are gifted, be able to network and seek opportunities within the communityHave creative abilities and be able to visualize a bigger picture of the vision for the children and families of the churchPreference may be given to a candidate with:Christian ministry experience and/or college degreeStrong musical and/or drama abilitiesComputer and social media skillsIs, or will become a member of Plymouth ChurchSupervision:The Director of Children, Youth and Family Ministry shall be supervised by the Pastor and responsible to the Visioning Team. Goals and programs will be reviewed and approved by these entities prior to implementation. This person will also work with the church secretary when organizing and planning events.Salary/Hours:The salary will be based on an average of 20/hours per week. Starting salary is $17.00/hour for an annual salary of $17,680.Hours would be flexible depending on the needs/activities planned for the week. Director would be responsible to keep a log of activity.
