Indian Health Service Health Technician (EMT) in Eagle Butte, South Dakota
This position serves as an Emergency Medical Technician at the Cheyenne River Service Unit. This position performs basic technical health care functions within the emergency medical area in response to various accidents and emergencies involving injury and illness. The incumbent will also be responsible for performing Nursing Assistant and Driver duties. Position is subject to "Standby" duty and will be required to rotate to all shifts. The incumbent reports directly to the EMS supervisor.

Measles and Rubella immunization required for selectees born after 1957. Seasonal Influenza immunization is required for civilian health care facility staff working in Indian Health Service health care facilities.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S): GS-03 6 months of general experience or 1 year above high school with course(s) related to the occupation.
GS-04 6 months general experience and 6 months specialized experience or 2 years above high school with courses related to the occupation.
GS-05 1 year specialized experience equivalent to at least GS-4 or 4 year course of study above high school leading to a bachelor's degree with courses related to the occupation.
In addition, to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below-
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-04 6 months of general experience that provided a familiarity with the subject matter of the position to be filled AND 6 months of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-03 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples of Specialized Experience: Nursing assistant duties, basic skill with emergency and patient transport, knowledge and skill in emergency medical techniques. OR 2 years of education above high school that included at least 12 semester hours in subjects related to the position. OR a combination of education and experience that when combined fully meet the minimum qualifications for this position. The total percentage equals at least 100 percent to qualify for this GS-04 grade level.
GS-05 1 year of specialized experience that has equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position. This specialized experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-04 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples of Specialized Experience: Nursing assistant duties, skill in emergency communication techniques, working knowledge of topographic anatomy and the major body parts. OR completed a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree with major study in Emergency Medical Services, or that included at least 24 semester hours in EMT-related courses OR successfully completed pertinent specialized training courses in EMT, while serving in the Armed Forces which is creditable on a month-for-month basis up to the 1 year of specialized experience.
