We offer a complete benefits package, paid time off, paid holidays and birthday holiday, great team members, and more!Submit an application at today to get started!Areas of AccountabilityAll areas of accountabilityto be delivered in a manner that aligns with the values and business strategy of Farmers Union Industries.Food Safety ComplianceContinuous ImprovementEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesWork safely and comply with company and regulatory safety/environmental policies, practices and proceduresMaintain highest level of confidentiality, customer service and professionalism to promote a positive image of the CompanyComplete routine food safety and quality systems inspections, identify deficiencies, and follow up with corrective actionsCommunicate effectively with plant personnel and supervisors and update supervisors on any non-conforming materials/equipmentFollow all procedures regarding all potential QA or Food Safety holdsUnderstand and implement company procedures pertaining to Operational Sanitation Standard Operating ProceduresPerform pre-operational sanitation inspections of the facility prior to start-upPerform various sample collections related to bacterial testing, interpret test results, and compare to company specificationsAssist in training of plant personnel and developing company procedures related to food safety and qualityComplete daily paperwork and maintain accurate and organized recordsSituations may arise that require employees to temporarily or permanently assume responsibility for tasks not specifically outlined in this job description. Employees may be requested to work additional hours and/or accommodate a heavier than normal work load.QualificationsDegree in Agricultural Science, Biology or meat science related degree, preferred3+ years experience in food/feed safety, quality assurance, lab environment, microbiology, or related fieldsKnowledgeable in food safety, quality and USDA regulations and developing SSOPs and HACCP plansAdvanced written and verbal communication skills with a high level of professionalismHigh level of proficiency, accuracy, discretion and confidentialityStrong sense of initiative and independent problem-solving/root cause analysisAbility to manage time and deadlines with little supervisionAbility to handle hot and cold conditions (dress according to temperature); different scents; and be aware of any wet floors or other hazardsAbility to stand; walk; move about the facility; occasionally lift, push/pull up to 40 pounds.Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPointBasic mathematical skillsBilingual (Spanish), desired but not requiredAbility to read and write in English
