The Electrical Technician – Generator repairs, overhauls and refurbishes generators and equipment on site and within workshops. Electrical Technician – Generator responsibilities include dismantling, rewinding, brazing, insulating, bracing, re-wedging, working with epoxies, retaining ring removal & refitting. Work is performed in accordance with approved instructions and direction of work leader.
Inspects generator equipment for damage and evidence of malfunctions.
Refurbishes, tests and rewinds generators and equipment.
Dismantles and/or strips damaged or unserviceable mechanical equipment.
Operates mobile equipment, tools & machinery efficiently and accurately.
Maintains clean work areas, machines and equipment.
Ensures correct documentation is used and filled out as specified on inspection and test plans, work instructions and any quality documents.
Ensures that all specified records are correctly taken, reviewed and approved.
Ensures that work is carried out in a safe manner and that relevant Safety and Quality documentation is complete for the task in hand.
Ensures all lifting equipment is correctly used, and prior to use confirms its current inspection status.
Ensures all work under their control is properly protected against damage whilst in the workshop or on site and correctly packages equipment for transport to ensure protection against damage.
Complete all online and classroom training sessions.
Hydro Generator winder experience
Excellent Spoken and Written Skills in English is a must.
Willingness and flexibility to travel globally when required on short notice.
Minimum 3 years of experience with maintenance, repair of large motor, stator and/or electrical component winding
Computer proficiency in MS Word, Excel and general use.
Exceptional communication, planning, technical and people skills
Ability to demonstrate strict compliance to safety standards
Able to work without supervision and able to execute tasks when engaged on solo basis
Able to work in a team environment and cooperate with fellow workers.
Brazing experience using torch, carbon and/or induction
Place leads, solder or braze connections as required and insulate.
Drive slot wedges, band as necessary or specified, prep for impregnation.
Place surge rings; fasten, remove or install revolving field coils.
Test and insert coils and maintain dimensions given on data sheets.
Maintains a consistently high standard of housekeeping
Ensures proper use and storage of equipment and chemicals
Works safely at all times
Capable of creative thinking and quick problem solving
