Summary

About the Position: This is a Purchasing Agent, GS-1105-08 Target 9 position with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Northwest Omaha (NWO), Omaha District, Contracting Division.

Responsibilities

Ability to analyze needs, schedules, deadline of requestors in relation to purchasing requirements and regulations in order to determine proper methods of purchase.

Work involves competitive and non-competitive purchases encompassing a variety of commercial and specialized supplies and services to include constructing requiring the use of different methods and procedures.

Determines apparent successful bidder and conducts pre-award survey, as applicable, to determine responsibility insofar as capability to perform work experience.

The incumbent independently plans and completes purchases resolving problems and deviations encountered.

Consults supervisor primarily on unprecedented problems and controversial matters, such as, conflicts with policies and regulations.

Specialized Experience for GS-8: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1) Experience working with Purchase Cards; AND 2) Experience monitoring funds and contractual requirements; AND 3) Experience with regulations as it pertains to purchasing of items such as equipment, supplies, and services. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Specialized Experience for GS-9: one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 grade level in the Federal service which includes 1)Experience developing and evaluating solicitations; AND 2) Experience with regulations as it pertains to purchasing of items such as equipment, supplies, and services. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-08). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas:
