Role Summary:

The Senior Consultant – Pharmacy owns the overall delivery of client engagements across multiple solution offerings. This role acts as the Engagement Leader and is the main client interface point for the day to day operations of the engagement. The Consulting Manager will ensure that all projects are delivered on time, on budget and within scope. They will also be responsible for the professional development of the consulting team working on that engagement.

Essential Responsibilities:

  1. Identifying opportunities for increased cost-effectiveness in terms of drug therapy, waste and utilization.

  2. Planning and completing the engagement with high quality on time and on budget.

  3. Managing the engagement communication plan, including the ability to take complex situations and communicate those to various levels of organization.

  4. Preparing and delivering succinct, clear and insightful and influential executive-level presentations.

  5. Proactively identify client needs and assist in developing solutions, this includes identifying business development/upsell opportunities within the client.

  6. Leading effective, cross-functional working sessions with clients and GE stakeholders.

  7. Serving as a GE liaison to the client for day to day engagement delivery and engagement updates.

  8. Managing and directing Knowledge Management activities on the engagement team.


  1. Bachelors Degree.

  2. 5+ years of experience in either advisory services/consulting or performance improvement in a healthcare setting.

  3. 3+ years of experience leading and managing projects with outcome focused deliverables.

  4. Operational experience in a hospital or pharmacy setting.

  5. Clear understanding of pharmacy pricing schemes, GPO pricing, wholesale acquisition pricing, 340B pricing schedules, etc.

  6. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel and PowerPoint.

  7. Ability to travel at least 70%.

Desired Characteristics:

  1. State Board of Pharmacy Certification

  2. 8+ years of experience in either advisory services/consulting

  3. A working knowledge of clinical pharmacy and previous experience in shaping prescribing behavior.

  4. Deep awareness and understanding of the Healthcare industry and major trends in the geography in which client projects are delivered.

  5. 4+ years of healthcare clinical or administrative experience

  6. Pharmacy business acumen, payments, reimbursements, charging, etc.

  7. Understanding of pharmacy payer contracts and pbms (pharmacy benefit managers)

  8. Understanding infusion centers and understanding Part B reimbursements

  9. Ability to operationalize initiatives and change go from strategy to getting the work done.

  10. Demonstrated data mining and analytical skills

  11. Demonstrated project management expertise or certification

  12. Ability to create impactful executive client facing communications and presentations

  13. Demonstrated expertise in driving change using Change Management tools

  14. Demonstrated experience in LEAN or Six Sigma tools

  15. Demonstrated experience in leading teams

  16. Demonstrated experience in delivering feedback and coaching successfully

  17. Demonstrated business acumen and analytical skills

  18. Adaptable: able to adjust work and communication style based on situational needs.

  19. Demonstrate an aptitude for critical thinking to included evaluation of ideas and synthesizing information into insights.

  20. Proven ability to accomplish large volume of high quality work under pressure.

  21. Proven ability to make decisions with limited information and achieve expected results.
