Indian Health Service Social Worker in Pine Ridge, South Dakota
This position is located at the Pine Ridge Service Unit (PRSU), Indian Health Service Hospital in Pine Ridge, South Dakota, but the position may be split between Rapid City and Pine Ridge. This position may also require the use of telehealth.
Assesses and evaluates patients using a patient/family-centered approach for needs such as, discharge planning/coordination, long-term care placement, and other psychological concerns related to health care. Develops intervention based on above need assessment and exercises mature professional judgment in consultation with the supervisory social worker in providing problem-focused, culturally appropriate care. Participates and when appropriate takes a leadership role in assessing community human service needs. Works with community members and human resources providers to develop approaches to addressing the needs.

GS-11: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: provides case management services for inpatients and outpatients that require hospitalizations or supportive community placements. Provides health education to patients, performs mental status evaluation on new admissions, referred patients and consultation. Or, successfully completed three years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree. Selective Placement Factor: Must possess a current, unrestricted U.S. State license as a Licensed Independent Social Worker (LISW), a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), or a Certified Independent Social Worker (CISW). You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
