SALARY RANGE: $80,500 - $111,880

Base salary is determined by the knowledge, skills and abilities of the applicant.

LOCATION: Rapid City, SD

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Responsible for contributing to Company’s fulfillment of financial goals by providing leadership and management of a portfolio of projects for the electric project delivery organization. Utilize project management principles to ensure electric transmission and distribution capital projects are completed on time and within budget. Coordinate activities of permitting, right of way and easement acquisition, project budgeting and forecasting, construction, energization, and project closeout.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Transmission & Distribution Engineering Manager

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage transmission and distribution project delivery efforts, permitting, project planning, and right-of-way acquisition for assigned portfolio of projects.

  • Deliver complex transmission and distribution projects requiring constant interface with multiple disciplines within the company. Project costs can range between $5,000,000 and $500,000,000.

  • Maintain commitment to continuous improvement by seeking and implementing improvements to project delivery efforts.

  • Track and maintain roster of options to accelerate and decelerate capital spend as needs arise.

  • Ensure assigned capital projects are completed safely and identify processes and procedures that will ensure safety of all personnel involved in project implementation.

  • Participate in information sharing among Company personnel to improve all facets of project delivery.

  • Oversee completion of capital projects in the electric utilities with an emphasis on completing projects on time and within budget.

  • Oversee field observation opportunities and learning for Company personnel as appropriate.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in industry conferences, workshops, and forums to keep abreast of issues relating to transmission and distribution project implementation.

  • Represent BHC in appropriate regional and industry forums related to competitive transmission implementation.

  • Other duties as assigned.

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Maintain positive working relationships with all Company employees, vendors and contractors.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Ten or more years of project management, field operations or other relevant experience required.

  • Prior leadership experience in transmission planning, engineering, or operations preferred.

EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, accounting or other relevant area or equivalent combination of education and experience required.

KNOWLEDGE:

  • Knowledge of electric utility planning, engineering, and operations.

  • Knowledge of infrastructure development and implementation.

  • Knowledge of project management principles and their use in a utility environment.

  • Expertise to strong expertise in project management, decision making, critical thinking, and problem solving. Must demonstrate skills and work experience in risk management, project leadership, employee management/development oversight.

  • Proven leadership skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to self-direct workload and prioritize business needs.

  • Possess unquestioned integrity and excellent interpersonal relations skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships with business contacts.

CERTIFICATIONS/CREDENTIALS:

  • Project Management Professional certification preferred, or the willingness and ability to obtain PMP certification.
