Responsibilities

As an AIRCRAFT ELECTRICIAN, WG-2892-11, you will:

This position is located in the Electro Environmental Shop in the Component Repair Branch of the Aircraft Maintenance Squadron in an Air National Guard Flying Wing, employing F-15, F-16 and C-130J, F-22, F-35, A-10, C-17, C-27J aircraft. The position functions to analyze malfunctions, troubleshoot, remove, install, repair, modify, maintain, test, align, calibrate and certify the components of the aircraft electrical system the electronically and pneumatically controlled environmental system, and associated test equipment, and to certify these systems are air worthy, by intensive inspections of the Electrical/Electronic and Environmental System and peripherals.

Qualifications

NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED: This is an excepted service position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the National Guard. Selectee will be required to wear the military uniform. Acceptance of an excepted service position constitutes concurrence with these requirements as a condition of employment.

COMPATIBLE MILITARY ASSIGNMENT:Selected individual must be assigned to a compatible military position in the following AFSC upon date of hire: AFSC 2A6X6. The AFSC(s) require an aptitude of M41 and E61 and a physical profile of K333132. Aptitude scores can be checked on the vMPF or at the Customer Service in the Force Support Squadron and physical profile in the medical squadron. Military grade inversion within the full-time work force is not permitted. The military grade of the full time supervisor must equal or exceed the military grade of personnel supervised.

GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Experience or training which has provided a knowledge and skill in locating and tying in the electrical systems with the aircraft armament, electronics, and instrument systems; adjusting and calibrating the components of the various electrical systems; reading and interpreting blueprints, wiring diagrams and schematics.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: For WG-8: Must have at least 12 months experience or training in installing, maintaining and repairing aircraft electrical systems. Experience which demonstrates the ability to diagnose and determine repairs. Experience in the use of common hand tools and measuring equipment. Experience which provided ability to lay out, set up and perform operations dependent on electrical and electronic theory and instruments.

For WG-11: Must have at least 18 months experience or training installing, maintaining, repairing and modifying electrical systems and major substation components of electrical system. Experience diagnosing malfunctions and determining remedy when complex relationships exists among different electrical system circuits requiring knowledge of all electrical units and systems. Experience making electrical repairs that require the use of precision measuring equipment and common hand tools. Experience in the setup and operation of computerized multiple circuit analyzing equipment in manual, semiautomatic, or automatic mode to run existing and new (not fully debugged) diagnostic programs to test and analyze aircraft electrical circuitry and interconnecting cabling of systems such as navigational computers, radar, and related equipment and to repair discrepancies.

This document will be used to determine the PAY GRADE to which an applicant may qualify. * Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory. * Skill in installing, maintaining, repairing and modifying electrical systems and major substation components of electrical system. * Skill in diagnosing malfunctions and determining remedy when complex relationships exists among different electrical system circuits requiring knowledge of electrical units and systems. * Skill in making electrical repairs that require the use of precision measuring equipment and common hand tools. Statement of Difference: The incumbent selected will meet the experience and educational requirements for entry at WG-08 level for the position of Aircraft Electrician, WG-2892-11, Position Description (PD) D1549P01. A locally developed Individual Development Plan (IDP) will be established for the incumbent. This IDP will be designed to provide the individual selected with the opportunity to broaden their knowledge and their skills relating to the electrical and environmental systems of the F16 to include the unique aspects associated with the "Fly-By-Wire" System. The IDP will allow the individual to gain the knowledge and skills required to perform the full spectrum of tasks associated with Aircraft Electrician position at the full performance level of WG-11 as described within the parent PD D1549P01. The incumbent was competitively selected to fill the position at this lower grade level of WG-08, promotion to the target grade of the position may be considered as a career promotion in accordance with applicable regulations, after qualifications, eligibility requirements, and completion of a locally developed IDP. The supervisor and the next higher level supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the incumbent is performing the full scope of duties and has the skill set requirements associated with the Aircraft Electrician WG-11, as described within the PD D1549P01, when working under normal supervisory controls.
