The Behavioral Economist Leader will be central to the Personalization team and the realization of the vision for Personalization at U.S. Bank. The role will bring behavioral science expertise and practices to the Personalization work, as well as, other bodies of work across the enterprise. Additionally, this role will drive the overall enterprise Personalization strategy. The role will design the orchestration of experiences for customers and employees to change human habits and behavior to improve financial wellness and business results. The role will do this through the design of systems, teaching of behavioral science approaches, application of science to real-world situations and experiences, as well as consulting across the enterprise. The role will be responsible for designing and owning the overall Personalization strategy including its evolution over time in alignment with overall corporate strategy. Additionally, this role will be responsible for building-out the behavioral science practice and approach for the enterprise including the building of a team over time.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Manage direct and/or indirect reports

  • Design enterprise-wide approach to behavioral science within personalization as well as related products, channels and experiences

  • Develop and own the overall enterprise Personalization strategy including ensuring its ongoing reflection and alignment with overall corporate strategy

  • Consult across internal teams on the application of behavioral science to different internal efforts

  • Ensure Personalization related efforts are orchestrated to affect customer and employee

  • Design and roll-out the approach for behavioral science for the enterprise including building and deploying a team

  • Develop and deploy curriculum to drive human behavior/habit changes in orchestration with prioritized Personalization strategy including measuring/quantifying the impact of curriculum including version testing

  • Measure and quantify the impact of curriculum including version testing to understand best approach to goals, customer segments, channels and products

  • Consult across internal teams on the application of behavioral science to different internal efforts

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications –

  • Master's in Behavioral Science or related field; or equivalent work experience. PhD in Behavioral Science or related field strongly preferred.

  • 10 years of related experience in Behavioral Finance and/or Investing Analyst with proven ability to deliver results, as well as significant strategy consulting and development experience at a top consulting firm or company.

Preferred Qualifications –

  • Expertise in human behavior and psychology related to wellness and/or financial topics, how are habits formed, how are habits changed, what kind of curriculum persuades and changes human behavior

  • Deep experience applying scientific and academic knowledge to practical, real-life, and business applications to affect measurable change in human behavior

  • Experience designing systems and experiences to drive human behavior

  • Experience evangelizing behavioral science practices and helping others understand applicability to their work

  • Experience developing comprehensive corporate strategy

  • Experience driving strategy across a complex organization and ensuring alignment and buy-in across many levels of seniority

  • Proven ability to thrive in a complex, fast-paced environment adapting to the changing market environment.

  • Experience developing curriculum to change human behavior in a non-academic setting.

  • Must have agility in thinking and delivery, along with proven ability to take direction in support of company goals.

Minneapolis is the preferred location. Relocation to be considered. U.S. Bank is open to location, for the right candidate. If the candidate is not based in Minneapolis, there would be an approximant travel requirement of 50%.
