POET Developer Intern in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
The Developer Intern will design, develop, modify, document and deliver high‐quality programming that meets the specific needs of the business. Developers will perform a variety of programming assignments requiring knowledge of established programming procedures and data processing requirements. Maintain and modify programs.
A TYPICAL DAY COULD INCLUDE
Working with other developers on projects/tasks that may involve multiple systems interactions and may require multiple developers to accomplish the desired needs.
Working with internal teams to better understand technology needed to create business process efficiencies.
Collaborating with the team to evaluate, analyze, and prioritize requirements and contribute to design solution options.
Contributing to designing and delivering quality software application solutions on time.
Using independent thought, knowledge and judgment of the application, develop and write code to meet requirements for projects, often working in conjunction with more senior developers.
Performing unit tests on code to validate functionality.
Preparing necessary project documentation for projects they are responsible and accountable for and deliver the documentation to the Project Manager and department manager.
Assisting with providing development effort estimates for new projects to the Business Analysts.
Working with other developers to define and implement the user experience for new and existing applications.
Making constructive suggestions for change and be a consistent advocate for user-centric design.
Maintaining a high level of customer service and friendly atmosphere.
Fostering a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times.

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
You are pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Sciences, Engineering and be within 1-2 years of graduation.
You have a strong understanding in object-oriented programming.
You have solid understanding of relational database concepts and experience with SQL queries.
You possess knowledge of software development life cycle methodologies and Windows operating systems.
You are skilled at problem-solving and priority management skill, goal- and deadline-oriented.
You have proven ability to work independently and as a team member.
You have excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change.
You identify, prioritize and execute tasks to meet critical project deadlines.
You are able to be flexible and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
You know the basics of Microsoft Office Suite. You’re capable of learning new programs.
Experience working with MS SQL Server a plus.
