JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of assigned laboratory focus, providing general oversight, management and leadership for large scale multi-site research projects. Provide oversight for development and implementation of new research projects and the assurance of good research practices. Possess an in-depth knowledge of federal regulations and guidance documents for the conduct of research, with the skill and ability to implement all aspects of focused research study protocols. Perform all responsibilities and duties in accordance with institution and industry policy and procedures and the overall goals and objectives of Sanford Research. Responsible for overseeing data collection sites, compiling and analyzing data, writing reports, identifying funding sources and assisting with grant writing. Able to define the scope of work, deliverables and timelines for various projects, and make decisions regarding allocation of personnel and resources. Must possess the ability to implement research protocol in the subject discipline with the ability to troubleshoot issues. Must possess knowledge of modern research methods, data collection and analysis. Must demonstrate experience in presenting and evaluating data, and the ability to work collaboratively with a research group or team. Responsible for informed consent form development, budget creation, staffing assessment, logistics and feasibility of protocol within the department. Act as the liaison with the Institutional Review Board and other research departments as required. Occasional local travel between sites may be required.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Non-Oncology area within the Clinical Research Department, enterprise-wide. Will directly oversee Research Managers and Project Managers, while providing leadership to the entire Non-Oncology team.

The Director is responsible for ensuring all study activities are completed by strictly following Good Clinical Practices (GCP) and all current local, state, and federal laws, regulations, guidance, policy and procedure developed by the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and Code of Federal Regulations (CFR).

Must possess strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Effectively communicate (oral and/or written) information including the planning and leading of meetings and presentations, and working with Clinical Operations to implement and facilitate project plans and departmental strategy.

Will perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.

Master’s degree in related field required. Five years clinical research experience required. Minimum of 5 years management experience preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS

Valid drivers license required. Ph.D. and/or M.D. with a minimum of nine years of research experience as a principal investigator with at least five years of management responsibility required.
