POET Finance Intern in Sioux Falls, South Dakota
The Finance Intern will learn a variety of financial forecast models for multiple bioprocessing centers that produce biofuels, such as ethanol, and other co-products. The models will provide financial support for long-range planning activities related to production, revenue, expenses, and capital. This role will participate in a variety of projects, and work closely with the accounting, tax, treasury, and finance departments.

A TYPICAL DAY COULD INCLUDE
Analyzing financial information to determine present and future bioprocessing center financial performance
Building and evaluating profit plans, operating records, and financial statements
Benchmarking POET results to other similar businesses
Coordinating with cross-functional groups to gather data and communicate results of analysis
Participating in valuation meetings, bank meetings, reviewing term sheets, investor votes and closings, M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) agreements
Learning the complexity of a privately held multi-billion dollar company, corporate structure, and how the business runs with all the moving parts
Assisting in maintaining a complex Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System that produces financial and forecasted results
Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times
Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community

STRENGTHS OF A SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE
High School Diploma or equivalent required
Enrolled and completion of junior level courses towards a four year degree in a related major; Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics
Ability to create MS Excel spreadsheet models and produce relevant outputs
Prior history of working with large data sets
High attention to detail
Excellent problem solving and structured thinking skills
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change
Understand the basics of Microsoft Office Suite while being capable of learning new programs
