POET Finance Intern in Sioux Falls, South Dakota

The Finance Intern will learn a variety of financial forecast models for multiple bioprocessing centers that produce biofuels, such as ethanol, and other co-products. The models will provide financial support for long-range planning activities related to production, revenue, expenses, and capital. This role will participate in a variety of projects, and work closely with the accounting, tax, treasury, and finance departments.

  • Analyzing financial information to determine present and future bioprocessing center financial performance

  • Building and evaluating profit plans, operating records, and financial statements

  • Benchmarking POET results to other similar businesses

  • Coordinating with cross-functional groups to gather data and communicate results of analysis

  • Participating in valuation meetings, bank meetings, reviewing term sheets, investor votes and closings, M&A (Mergers & Acquisitions) agreements

  • Learning the complexity of a privately held multi-billion dollar company, corporate structure, and how the business runs with all the moving parts

  • Assisting in maintaining a complex Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System that produces financial and forecasted results

  • Foster a culture of safe behavior and environmental compliance at all times

  • Maintain a team environment at all times and champion POET in the community

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required

  • Enrolled and completion of junior level courses towards a four year degree in a related major; Accounting, Finance, Business, or Economics

  • Ability to create MS Excel spreadsheet models and produce relevant outputs

  • Prior history of working with large data sets

  • High attention to detail

  • Excellent problem solving and structured thinking skills

  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills as well as the ability to adapt to change

  • Understand the basics of Microsoft Office Suite while being capable of learning new programs
