The Sioux Falls VA Health Care System is currently recruiting for a Full-time, Permanent, Lead MSA (Trainer/Auditor).

Work Schedule: The tour of duty for this position is typically Days, Monday - Friday. Additional information may be provided during the interview process. Financial Disclosure Report:Not required

Responsibilities
  • Train all schedulers (MSAs, Advanced MSAs, technicians, nurses, and various other providers) on a standardized and comprehensive training program to ensure accuracy of scheduling, and business operations of MSA duties.
  • Demonstrate exceptional skills in oral communication as 60% of their daily work will be focused on oral presentations for a variety of students. Must understand how to recognize when students need supplemental training and will use a wide range of teaching methods or tools, depending on the students learning requirements.
  • Must be proficient in VistA, specifically appointment management, and will become equally proficient on VistA Scheduling Graphical User Interface (VS GUI) and any future scheduling software.
  • Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of scheduling, consult management, ICB insurance capture, encounter management, patient centered scheduling, and workflow operations of the outpatient clinics.
  • In addition to teaching in the traditional didactic setting, will spend time in the outpatient clinic ensuring continuity among schedulers, and provide just-in-time training for employees who are not following the national scheduling directives and local standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct ongoing reviews to ensure quality of work; ensure accurate and timely scheduling of appointments; provide guidance to staff members to include changes in policies and procedures; educate staff on how to distribute and balance workload; orient and provide on-the-job training for new and current employees; and ensure all training requirements are met.
  • Develops, obtains, and adapts a training curriculum for tasks related to the standard duties of an MSA. May also be asked to create standard operating procedures and maintain them on a SharePoint site or other designated site.
  • The Lead MSA will be tasked with tracking training and competency requirements, training feedback, pre and post training tests, scoring tests, and providing feedback to training participants, updating training material to reflect changes in policy/directive.
  • Perform scheduler audits as required by Directive and as requested and/or needed. Audits will be entered into required database(s) with results provided to supervisors. They will analyze audit for trends that may require a change in training provided and/or trends in MSA performance.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in the Microsoft office suite and is comfortable with data collection in a variety of databases such as VSSC.

Skill in communicating with individuals in order to obtain the desired effect, ensuring compliance with established policies and regulations. 3. Ability to provide staff development and training. 4. Ability to manage staffing requirements, manage priorities, and coordinate work in order to complete duties in an accurate and timely manner. This includes the ability to follow-up on pending issues and demonstrating an understanding of the impact of incomplete work. 5. Ability to review and monitor data to ensure all reports are complete and accurate.
