Position Description

What does a great Contract Manager do?

The Contract Manager will provide commercial technology contract related support, including process improvement, contract drafting and negotiation, document management and facilitation of contract execution in support of sales executives, account managers, IT purchasers, product owners, and other internal clients of Fiserv’s Bank Solutions division. The Contract Manager will also lead two direct reports.

AS A CONTRACT MANAGER, YOU CAN LOOK FORWARD TO:

  • Preparing drafts of contracts, amendments and schedules for internal approval and review by the client; negotiating the same

  • You will review client contract redlines and commenting, suggesting, and negotiating alternative language / responses

  • You will draft language, sometimes based upon contract templates and clause banks and sometimes crafting original work product and will be leading complex negotiations; handling communications with clients

  • You will work with internal clients to set negotiation strategy

  • Identifying and escalating potential risks within contracts and making recommendations for resolution

  • Working with account executives / sales / business clients to verify legal and business terms

  • You will address contractual questions from internal and external clients

  • Providing contract interpretation to internal clients as needed and assist with and potentially leading research and other projects

  • Acting as a “point person” for the collection of information and feedback from disparate groups during the contracting process (e.g., finance, operations, security, product, etc.)

  • Acting as a subject matter expert on Fiserv positions based on the applicable business and client profile

  • You will be assisting in revising and updating standard contract templates and tools

  • Understanding the business and products; staying current with industry trends and the legal and regulatory landscape of the business

  • Applying Fiserv standard legal and business positions in drafting and negotiation

  • Providing input into formulation of Fiserv standard legal and business positions

  • Leading team of two direct reports and directing work assignments and complete assigned tasks with general direction and supervision

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • At least 7 years of contracts negotiation experience

  • Relevant complex negotiation and contract drafting experience required

  • Prior experience leading people

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Able to effectively get along with the Legal Department and business professionals regarding legal terms of contracts and, when necessary, business terms

  • Strong interpersonal and professional communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work in a dynamic and demanding environment

  • Strong computer proficiency with a variety of software applications, including MS-Office Suite and PDF software and excellent typing skills

  • Strong organization skills, with the ability to effectively manage workload expectations under time pressure and meet dedications

  • Analytical, and solutions-oriented, with the ability to be both business and client focused

  • Meaningful experience negotiating a wide variety of contractual agreements

  • Ability to provide meaningful input into negotiating / contracting strategy and apply standard legal and business positions in drafting and negotiation

  • Experience negotiating technology contracts in an in-house legal department or law firm setting is preferred

  • Financial services related experience is highly desired but not required

TRAVEL REQUIRED:

  • Minimal – 2-3 trips per year for department / business unit meetings
