THIS IS A MARKET RESEARCH POSITION FOR POSSIBLE FUTURE OPENINGS
STG International is seeking qualified candidates for the Medical Director position to work providing health care to detainees in custody in support at Minnehaha County Jail.
The Medical Director provides outstanding customer service to all customers including, but not limited to, inmate patients, correctional facility staff, internal employees are other individuals providing services to STGi and its clients. The Medical Director will be responsible for the management, oversight, and adherence to federal, state, correctional health care standards and institutional regulations and guidelines in the provision of medical care for the facility.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Provide and manage direct medical patient care; maintain medical records and charts documenting all medical services rendered.
Direct, coordinate and supervise clinical services provided by professional staff; review and approve treatment protocols, clinical policies and procedures; and provide in-service training for the clinical staff.
Collaborate with administrative staff in development and implementation of quality improvement, safety and infection control programs and initiatives.
Follow established policies, procedures, continuous quality improvement and safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Sponsor Physician Assistants in compliance with the state law for correctional facilities.
Serve as a professional resource for all Physicians working at the facility(s)
Assist in screening, interviewing and evaluating credentials of healthcare providers.
Serve as discussion leader for selected in-service training classes. Represent the healthcare program in discussions with local civic groups or visiting officials.
Ability to supervise and train employees.
Knowledge of federal, state, correctional health care standards and institutional regulations and guidelines in the provision of medical services.
Ability to maintain quality, safety and infection control standards.
Knowledge of medical diagnostic and patient care services.
Ability to develop and present in-service educational programs to clinic staff.
Knowledge of current principles, methods and procedures for the delivery of medical diagnosis and treatment.
Ability to work, observe, assess and record symptoms, reactions and progress.
Knowledge of relevant drugs and non-pharmaceutical patient care aids and ability to prescribe dosages and instruct patients on correct usage.
Knowledge of legal and ethical standards for the delivery of medical care.
Ability to conduct research and write reports.
State license as an M.D. or D.O.
Board certified or board eligible
Current CPR certification
Must be Board-certified in primary care specialty (family practice, internal medicine, surgery) required
Supervisory experience in correctional health care preferred
Other relevant professional experiences or educational backgrounds will be considered as deemed appropriate.
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four (4) hours per day.
Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
Respond to any medical emergency within the clinic, where a fast walk or job may be necessary to provide assistance.
