Under the direction and in collaboration with the director of human resources & safety, the emphasis of this position is to improve the safety performance at Howe, Inc. by providing leadership in development, implementation, and administration of Howe, Inc. safety policies and procedures. Performs all other duties as assigned.
Performs regular site safety audits of all company work environments.
Collaborates with operations management to develop Job Safety Analysis for all positions.
Collaborates with operations management and project management to develop risk assessments for field, and/or shop, plumbing, fire protection, HVAC, and commercial and residential service jobs.
Conducts safety training either directly or through authorized vendor for all employees.
Conducts accident investigations for employee injury incidents and vehicle, equipment, or property damage incidents.
Monitors and interprets federal, state, and local safety and health rules and makes recommendations for necessary policy/guideline communications and training necessary.
Responsible for maintaining OSHA log and annual reporting.
Able to communicate technical information to a broad audience, from field employees to executive management.
Must be highly motivated, a self-starter and have good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work with little supervision.
Can react calmly in emergency situations and work effectively with other people.
Must be able to travel regionally up to 50%.
Education and Experience
3-5 years of experience in construction safety
Minimum associate degree in construction management, safety, human resources or related field, preferred.
CSP certification desirable.
30-hour (construction) OSHA certification preferred.
Proficient skills in MS Office Suite
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer
Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various construction environments
Must be able to work in all weather conditions.
