What does a great VP of Implementations do?

The VP, Implementations delivers strategic direction and leadership for the Implementations function within Bank Solutions Division, a $1.5 Billion dollar Fiserv business.

This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of Fiserv solutions to our Bank clients, advancement of Client’s knowledge and satisfaction with Fiserv products and services within the conversion and implementations experience, and enabling clients to maximize the value proposition(s) benefits and achieve business results. You will be accountable for the conversion and implementations of five core platforms and a broad portfolio of surround solutions. You will provides thought leadership in advancing Fiserv’s Implementation services offerings and methodologies; exceeding client and market expectations by segment. The leader also acts as primary escalation point for external client leadership and internal senior management regarding the implementation portfolio and integrity of the group’s execution.

Key performance metrics include external client satisfaction surveys, resource utilization, productivity metrics, and portfolio KPIs.

Key stakeholder relationships include: Data Center Operations, Enterprise Technology Group, Product Development function(s), Client Management function(s), Enterprise Delivery Org., Project Management Org.

Key responsibilities of the VP, Implementations include, but are not limited to, the following:

Strategy: Deliver Best-In-Class Operations

  • Provide strategic direction and support for Conversions and Implementations functions to ensure advancement of Client’s knowledge and satisfaction with Fiserv products and services, enabling clients to maximize the value proposition(s) benefits and business results.

  • Provide thought leadership in advancing Fiserv’s services offerings and capabilities to exceed changing client and market expectations by segment.

  • Mature internal interfaces to ensure predictability and transparency in the delivery experience (inclusive of SLAs, pre-defined engagement models, etc).

  • Develop and implement strategic operating plans consistent with Business Unit objectives and align with departmental objectives.

  • Apply external professional knowledge of industry to the adoption of premier service experience, efficiencies in execution, acceleration in revenue recognition and client satisfaction.

  • Champion new systems, processes and / or methodologies that differentiate Fiserv from its competitors.

Results: Drive Revenue Recognition

  • Develop, standardize and administer common quality and productivity standards and metrics, ensuring targets are met for all key business processes and ensuring the processes are effective and efficient.

  • Establish and meet financial targets, budgets and make financial decisions and recommendations based on rate of return, risk, and strategic fit.

  • Participate in and create content for long range planning as well as annual operating plans.

Talent: Enhance Talent Capabilities

  • Lead by example a “Client Experience” culture where employees have the confidence, courage, initiative and resolve to make a difference.

  • Inspire and empower employees to anticipate client needs and identify solutions to meet them.

  • Identify and address gaps between employees’current capabilities and what is needed for alignment with strategic direction. (Talent Management)

  • Attract, develop and retain top talent for key positions. Employee retention will be especially critical as the business undergoes significant transformational changes.

  • Use performance management to improve performance, develop employees and hold managers accountable for effective performance management.

  • Assure effective succession planning for key positions.

  • Create and maintain a work environment that maximizes associate engagement and is recognized, both internally and externally, as a highly desired place to work

  • Engage with global partners to embrace and implement labor optimization model to help improve efficiencies and reduce cost.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required- business, finance, or other related area. MBA or Master’s degree Preferred.

  • 15+ years of business experience in the financial industry with emphasis on operational execution and transformational capacities. Previous experience in leading a global conversion and implementations function preferred.

  • 10+ years of experience in a leadership capacity

  • High level of business/financial acumen

  • Proven record of transformational capability and ability to maximize revenue

  • Broad range of industry relationships and experience of interacting successfully with C-level leaders; outstanding communications skills

  • Considers different perspectives, monitors trends affecting the organization, seeks out and understands disruptive technologies and grasps changes in the external environment to assimilate and solve problems effectively

  • Demonstrates an authentic and sincere interest in Fiserv associates and clients, builds trust, inspires and helps colleagues overcome challenges. Leadership is evident in every interaction.
