Indian Health Service Diagnostic Radiologic Technologist in Wagner, South Dakota

Summary This position is located in the Radiology Department at one of the various IHS facilities located in the Great Plains Area. This position may be subject to on-call/rotating/weekend/day/holiday/evening/night shifts. Incumbent must also be ARRT certified. Selection Placement Factor: Knowledge of X-Ray studies for physicians to use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients as evidenced by possession of a current unrestricted American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. Responsibilities Performs a variety of routine to complex examinations to assist the Medical Staff in the proper diagnosis and treatment of patients. Monitors all radiographs taken in the department to assure high quality Maintains records of all functions of this department and keeps documentation on file as required by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO). Performs a wide variety of complex ultrasound examinations of human subjects to aid in the diagnosis and treatment of disease or injury. Performs a variety of computerized tomography examinations according to physician instructions. Requirements Conditions of Employment Must pass pre-employment examination. Qualifications To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: GS-5: 1 year of experience performing routine diagnostic radiographic procedures. My experience included producing digital images of routine views of the body (i.e., chest, joints, feet, hands, long bones of arms and legs) under general supervision of a Radiologist. GS-6: 1 year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-05 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples include: performing or assisting in fluoroscopy examinations such as upper GI's, lower GI's, also special examinations such as bronchograms, orthograms, IVPs and cystograms. Experience in keeping accurate records of patient's workloads and experience in maintaining patient logs on a daily basis and educating patients on examinations such as preparation. GS-7: 1 year of specialized experience that equipped me with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. This experience is related to the work of the position and equivalent to at least the GS-06 level in the Federal service as described in the vacancy announcement. Examples include: Experience in basic complex ultra sound examinations, developing and maintaining a quality control system for an automatic film processor on a daily basis to meet all M/M and JCAH standards, checking lead aprons and lead gloves for radiation leaks on a quarterly basis which is documented, monitoring all radiographs taken to assure high quality and keeping accurate records for every x-ray. Selection Placement Factor: Knowledge of X-Ray studies for physicians to use in the diagnosis and treatment of patients as evidenced by possession of a current unrestricted American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification. Time In Grade Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level.
