Terex Corporation Buyer Lead in Watertown, South Dakota
This position is responsible for purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies from vendors for Terex Utilities spare parts in a Terex Global Entity. Role is responsible for the oversight and execution of the planning for a wide range of part numbers for various warehouse locations using Terex MRP system as well for the expedition of open Purchase orders in case of unexpected demand increases. Role also manages and directs the resolution of the customer backorder lines in close collaboration with Customer Services, as required. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks.
General oversight as a working lead of the buying team
Accountable for team KPI’s and performance reporting
Works closely with the Global Parts Purchasing, Forecasting & Planning and Logistics Teams
Be a strong team player with ability to work effectively on cross-functional projects
Participate in supplier quality activities such as corrective action completion
Analyzes problems and backlog, determines causes, then takes corrective actions such as the simplification of sight recognition of parts, shortening lead time, timing of deliveries, etc.
Review purchase request for material via MRP or manual purchase requisition.
Input Purchase order data via MRP, Direct-Link, Kanban, demand.
Monitor team purchase orders to maintain delivery schedules.
As applicable, must be able to expedite critical components and overdue purchase orders.
Resolve supplier problems associated with over shipments, invoicing issues, obsolete, rework and scrap material.
Must be able to develop excellent working relationship with both internal and external customers as well as suppliers.
Maintain supplier relationships in order to drive cost reductions while continually achieving the highest level of quality material.
Review, analyze and interpret various reports.
Moderate technical understanding of assigned commodities.

HS Diploma or GED
2 years’ experience in a purchasing, buyer, or material planner role.
Bachelor’s degree in procurement, supply chain, operations
Previous leadership of teams
MRP system experience is highly preferred, as well as ASI system experience.
Engineer to order environment and low volume/high mix purchasing experience, including MRO and production materials purchasing exp.
Ability to interface with company and supplier senior management.
Technical purchasing and out-sourcing skills.
Strong negotiating skills.
Ability to multitask, prioritize work, and work closely with other departments.
Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the procurement field.
Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals to perform a variety of tasks.
Ability to research and identify new suppliers.
Project Management experience.
Ability to read engineering prints.
Lean experience or knowledge is a plus.
Ability to work in a fast paced and demanding environment.
Proficient computer skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).
