Terex Corporation Quality Technician - 1st Shift in Watertown, South Dakota

Position Overview

This team does final inspection or testing of produced goods, parts, units, equipment, or materials to determine compliance with stated quality standards or specifications, prior to release. They develop and administer testing procedures meant to verify quality or compliance of completed products. They ensure that quality testing is conducted on a sample size large enough to be considered statistically representative of all goods produced. They perform audits to ensure standards of quality are maintained. They accurately document the results of the inspections and testing. They recommend testing at various stages of the production process, to identify non-compliant items or batches as soon as possible and reduce waste.

Qualifications/Responsibilities

  • Safe and positive approach to daily standard work.

  • Proficient in blueprint interpretation, and installation drawings.

  • Understanding of precision measuring equipment and applications.

  • Experienced with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Basic understanding of iPads/digital applications.

  • Highly proficient in communicating problems and solutions to their supervisor, internal and external customers, and with other departments and plants.

  • Must be familiar with weld inspection method used by Terex Utilities at the various facilities.

  • Ability to investigate problems, determine root cause, and suggest or implement effective solutions.

  • Must have a desire to make a difference, make long-term changes to Terex Utilities Quality.

  • Ability to train the Terex Utilities team on Quality Standards and Customer Requirements.

  • Perform Audits/Inspections at specified Quality gates.

  • Other Job duties as assigned

Basic Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years experience in Assembly/Installation, Testing, or Inspection.

Physical Requirements of the Job

Physical requirements of the job are classified as medium to heavy. Physical demand requirements are in excess of light work. Medium to heavy work is defined as:

  • 10 to 40 pounds of force frequently, may include pushing, pulling and lifting

  • 40 to 100 pounds of force occasionally with assistance of machinery or others to move objects

  • Ability to stand on concrete for 10+ hours per shift

  • Ability to access the truck, above, below and all around the truck along with getting into the basket and functioning the unit

  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills

  • Offer assistance and helps others where needed, backs up others

  • Willingness to be flexible to learn new skills based on the need of the company

  • Consistently performs to Takt Time or quoted, and meets established metrics by performing quality work in accordance to SOPs for the area with minimal errors

  • Work to improve processes within their work area – uses appropriate tools to find and eliminate waste and to reduce overall business costs

  • Continuously search for new and better ways of doing things; challenges the status quo and sets stretch goals; works across boundaries to achieve common goals; strives to continuously improve oneself
