Ormat Technologies, Inc. Mechanical Maintenance Technician I in Wetonka, South Dakota
The Mechanical Maintenance Technician performs the tasks required to install, repair, modify, overhaul, diagnose, test, and maintain all power plant equipment and systems. Provides leadership for various maintenance and outage activities being performed by less qualified individuals and outside contractors.
This position is based in the Dickinson, ND Area
Strictly adhere to all safety procedures as required by ORMAT and OSHA to include attending monthly safety and maintenance training. Provides environmental and safety stewardship and ensures that all safety and regulatory requirements are met.
Perform preventative, predictive and corrective maintenance tasks on all plant machinery, including gas compressors, pumps, valves, gearboxes, turbines, and related support equipment.
Troubleshoot, repair and maintain all mechanical equipment as required to support plant operations.
Performs vibration analysis on rotating equipment. Establishes trends and interprets information.
Provides documentation of all work performed for equipment history files and predictive maintenance trends and scheduling utilizing maintenance management system. Use the computerized maintenance management system to process work orders and manage the spare parts inventory.
Responsible for operating lift equipment & cranes and rig loads for lifting.
Fabricate parts and materials using welding equipment and machine shop tools.
Assist in requisitioning parts and supplies.
Train and develop other employees in performing preventive maintenance and routine equipment service activities.
Maintain a clean and safe shop and plant environment. Perform area cleanup following equipment repair/maintenance.
Provides technical input to Plant Manager for system upgrades or modifications, outages and maintenance planning.
Must be able to work holidays and weekends as necessary
Must be able to drive a company vehicle from plant to plant in a safe manner.
Operate plant equipment as necessary.
Perform Operator Technician duties as called upon.
Perform all other assigned tasks as directed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
The applicant should possess at least 3 years of experience in mechanical maintenance.
The ability to understand procedures and instructions specific to the areas of assignment as would be acquired in three to four years of high school.
Must have specific expertise in the mechanical maintenance of power plant equipment including turbines, generators, heat exchangers, pumps, and compressors, valves, testing equipment, PM methods and inspections of equipment.
General welding skills required.
General knowledge of operating shop equipment such as drill presses, mills, lathes, etc. is preferred.
Must have the ability to read, write and speak English at a level that will permit the employee to understand and communicate information in a manner that will enable the employee to safely and efficiently perform the job duties.
Must possess at any time a valid driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to ORMAT auto insurance carrier.
Must be able to operate a vehicle in a safe manner.
Must be able to use and acquire knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation. Must be proficient in MS word, Excel, Power Point and use of the Internet.
Must be able to read and understand mechanical drawings.
Must be able to read, understand and perform complex written maintenance procedures.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.
Employee is frequently required to walk, use hand to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls, and to reach with hands and arms. Employee is occasionally required to stand, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects weighing up to 25 lbs, occasionally lift and/or move objects weighing up to 50lbs.
