Yankton School District Payroll/Benefits Generalist in Yankton, South Dakota

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Provides general support to the payroll and humanresource functions of the district. Primary responsibilitiesinclude processing payroll, data collection, reportingand coordination of employee benefits. REQUIREMENTS:Education Level:Minimum two-year Associates Degree from college oruniversity; or one to two years related experience and/ortraining; or equivalent combination of education andexperience.Experience Desired:One to two years in a similar position Physical Requirements:Constant hand-eye/mind-eye coordination, hearing; keyboarding, use of wrists, hands, fingers, speaking, typing and writing. Frequent filing, sitting, standing and walking. The ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing is also required. Other Requirements:Under only limited general supervision, conducts day-to-day operations of the business office. Applicantmust possess a high degree of responsibility, integrity, initiative, public relations skills and ability to maintainconfidential information.REPORTS TO:Business ManagerRECEIVES GUIDANCE FROM:Superintendent, Director of Student ServicesESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES: (other duties may be assigned)Performs a variety of executive support tasks that are time sensitive and confidential.Demonstrates a high level of communication skills in writing, grammar, oral communication and listening.Possesses advanced computer skills, including Google Suite, Google Drive, Microsoft Office skills, primarily Word and Excel.Demonstrates strong public relations skills, e.g., proper telephone etiquette, customer service and uses diplomacy in dealing with a variety of situations.Has working knowledge of employee policies and procedures.Performs responsibilities in a self-motivated manner; certain job functions need tobe completed on a recurring basis without being reminded.Must be highly organized, able to maintain accurate files and data that can beaccessed quickly.Utilizes strong people skills in developing and maintaining professionalrelationships with administration, teaching staff and classified employees.Functions in a work environment that requires many pending tasks in process at alltimes.Responds positively to unexpected changes in work tasks.Maintains composure during stressful situations.Performs employee onboarding and separation processes.Compiles payroll and other financial data and statistics as directed by the businessmanager.Submits various payroll and financial reports electronically within prescribeddeadlines.Primary point of contact and coordinator of workers compensation injuryreporting, claims and correspondence, verifications of employment, reemployment assistance.Assists external auditors with data requests.Operates central copy machine and production equipment as needed.Performs other duties as assigned by the business manager.Promotes a positive image of the Yankton School District.Primary LocationYankton Schools Administration BuildingSalary RangePer HourShift TypeFull-Time
